Wish I had been in Seattle for the show of David Byrd’s paintings — he is an amazing artist who has been laboring for decades without showing his work, just recording the world around him. Seattle’s PBS program, Art Zone, has a link to a 10-mn video about him which is well worth watching — Art Zone Web Extra: David Byrd. It is by Andrea Hull who, to my mind, captures Mr. Byrd’s world with her camera as magnificently as he, with paintbrush, has captured the world revolving and evolving around him. Part of his world was a psychiatric hospital where he worked — a world caught between physical and mental realities. And some of his world was the sheer fun of kids and adults at play.
